Mildred Shirley Shugart

Mrs. Mildred S. Shugart, 92, of Rome, died on Monday, September 15, 2014.

Mrs. Shugart was born September 1, 1922; she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Maggie Shirley. She worked at Bell Aircraft from 1943 until 1945 as "Rosie the Riveter". Mrs. Shugart retired from Burlington Mills in Shannon after 35 years of service. Along with her parents, her husband of more than 63 years, J.D. Shugart preceded her in death in 2005; she was also preceded in death by her sister, Martha Wilson.

Survivors are her daughter, Janice Short; her son, Jewell Douglas Short Jr., and his wife, Betty; sister, Evelyn Bennett; her niece and husband, Cathy and Jimmy Owens.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, September 20 at 10:00 AM at the Fain Cemetery with Rev. Jimmie Timms officiating. The family suggests that memorials be made to a favorite charity. Condolences may be left at www.maxbrannonandsons.com.
