Minnie Gallman Walraven

April 28, 1927 — November 19, 2011

Mrs. Minnie Gallman Walraven, age 84 of Highway 225, Chatsworth, GA, died Saturday November 19, 2011 in Hamilton Medical Center following several years of declining health.

Mrs. Walraven was born in Murray County on April 28, 1927, daughter of the late William and Ninnie Bright Gallman. She was one of ten children, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Elzy Mae Jones and Rose Etna Jones, and five brothers, Floyd Gallman, Leslie "Dink" Gallman, Gordon Lee Gallman, Earl Gallman and Clifford Gallman. Aunt Minnie, as she was referred to by many, was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and very seldom missed a televised game. She also anticipated the return of the hummingbirds each spring, and enjoyed watching them feed outside her living room window. Minnie and J.T. had only one son, Hansel, who died early in life, but they were just like a mother and father to the many nieces and nephews that they so dearly loved. Her beloved husband, J.T. Walraven, preceded her in death in 2007.

Mrs. Walraven is survived by a sister, Mary Gallman Cagle; a special niece and caregiver, Debbie Starks and her husband Gary of Resaca; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Gallman Walraven will be held on Monday, November 21st at 4:00 PM from Higher Praise Church of God, with Rev. Jimmy Hogan and Rev. Billy Tatum officiating. Music will be arranged by Debby Bagley and Josh Spence. Interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Josh Spence, Rodney DeFoor, Jeremy Walraven, Brian Walraven, Tom Gallman and Larry Gallman. Honorary pallbearers include Anthony Gallman, Gary Cagle, Richard Jones, Roy Jones and Clement Hefner.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home after 4:00 PM Sunday. The body of Mrs. Walraven will be placed in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
