Minton Young, 68, of Resaca died Wednesday, October 4, 2017. He was born in Dalton, GA on December 18, 1948. He was preceded in death by his father, J.E. "Bo" Young.
Minton retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after 24 years. He served his country in the National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman. Minton was a music lover who built and played many musical instruments. He was a kind spirit who treated others well and was never judgmental.
Minton is survived by his mother, Ruth Hawkins Young; his daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Nathan Johnson; a sister and brother-in-law, Wonda and Judge Ron Wilson; grandchild, Brantley Johnson; a niece, Melissa White and her husband Steve; a nephew, Reno Blalock; and great-niece and nephews, Tyler Greene, Haley Greene, and Matthew White.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 8th at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Danny Jenkins and Rev. Donald Young will officiate. Burial will follow at Maranatha Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Kevin Allen, Mike Hawthorne, Jeff (Hoppy) Horn, Buster Miller, Jeremy Eubanks, Alfred Young, and Darrell Young. Honorary pallbearer serving is Jack Brinkley.
The Young family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 8th from noon until 3:00 p.m. The family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society online at www.cancer.org or the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia online at www.hsnwga.org.
