Mrs. Mollie Lois Rich Avery, age 97 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born on May 19, 1913 in Gordon County, daughter of the late William Andrew and Lillie Dolly Talley Rich; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Carmon Avery; two daughters, Lois Avery and Mary Avery; and two sons, George Avery and Billy Rich Avery. She was a charter member and the oldest member of Oostanaula Baptist Church, and had retired from Crown Craft Mills after 36 years of employment.
Mrs. Avery is survived by a son, Jimmie Avery and his wife Edna of Calhoun; four grandchildren, Jimmie Avery, Jr., Howell Avery, Richard Avery and Melinda Cole; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Very special friends, Larry and Geraldine Vest also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mollie Lois Rich Avery will be conducted Friday, December 10th at 2:00pm from the Oostanaula Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Langston and Rev. Michael Hunt officiating. Music will be arranged by the Herman White family. Active pallbearers will include, Jerry Clark, Jerry Evans, Randall Fox, Jerry Coffman, Jack Bell and Pat Thornton. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Friday at 1:00 pm. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Hobgood, Dick Hobgood, Hughdon Wilson, Ronald Turk, Ron Hall, Larry Vest, Bradley Pelfrey, James Fisher, and the deacons of Oostanaula Baptist Church. These gentlemen may meet at the church Friday at 1:30pm. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Oostanaula Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday after 4:00pm.
