Mr. Monroe Harrison Garland, age 93 of Adairsville, GA passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Chulio Hills Nursing Home following several years of declining health. He was born in Cherokee County, GA on December 18, 1918, son of the late Dan and Ollie Cantrell Garland. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Dollie Smith Garland in 1990; a son, Monroe Garland, Jr. in 1956; a brother, Lon Garland; three sisters, Myrtle Stover, Mamie Smith, and Mae Silvers; and a grandchild, Donna Gail Johnson.
Survivors include three daughters, Charlene Carver and her husband Jesse of Floyd County, Bobbie Jean Thompson of Rocky Face, and Sybil Baker of Calhoun; and two brothers, Mack Garland of Kingston, and Grady Garland of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Jesse Lynn Carver and his wife Connie, Linda Diane Snyder and her husband T.K., Michael George Roberson, Ron Hamilton, and Rhonda Jean Smith. Several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Monroe Harrison Garland will be held Saturday, March 24th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Bogue and Rev. Joe Fountain officiating. Music will be arranged by Joy and Angie Bogue. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include T.K. Snyder, Andy King, Ron Hamilton, Rodney Fowler, and little Michael Roberson.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
