Mr. Trammell Monroe Kirby, age 66 of LaFayette, GA died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Shepherd Hills Health Care. He was born in Gordon County on January 21, 1946, son of the late Edgar and Thelma Greeson Kirby. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Kirby; and two sisters, Dorothy Mae Edwards and Elaine Holt.
During his lifetime, Mr. Kirby was employed by the City of Calhoun in the Electrical Department.
Survivors include a son, Greg Kirby of Calhoun; four brothers, H.L. Kirby of Resaca, Larry Kirby of Rosedale, Jack Kirby of Spartanburg, SC, and Arthur Kirby of Portland, OR; three sisters, Maxine Youmann of Calhoun, Mary Ruth Sanford of Calhoun, and Louise Vandyke of Sugar Valley. Grandchildren surviving are Michael Robert Babb, Talisa Elaine Babb, and Joanna Marie Kirby, all of Dalton; and a great-grandchild, Jayvid Alexander Hunt.
Funeral services for Mr. Trammell Monroe Kirby will be held Saturday, January 28th at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. M.L. Thomas, and Rev. Delmar Ledford officiating. Music will be arranged by Rodney and Sherry Talley. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery at Hall Memorial. Active pallbearers are Tony Kirby, J.R. Kirby, Anthony Ray Long, Craig Kirby, T.W. Reece, and Tyler Ray. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home Saturday at 10:15am.
The Kirby family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
