Mrs. Jewell Lee Brown Farmer, age 91 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 at Gordon Health Care Center following several years of declining health. Mrs. Farmer was born on September 9, 1917 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Marion Andy Brown and Lular Wilson Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Farmer; a stepdaughter, Louise F. Strahs; sisters, Ethel Brown, Estelle Ingle, Mable Hollaran, and Ruby Waldrop; and brothers, Frank Brown and B.W. Brown. Mrs. Farmer was a member of Resaca Baptist Church.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Jean F. Chambers of Spring Hill, Florida; a special niece and caregiver, Anita Poole of Jasper; step grandchildren, Diane Polny of New York, Lynda Soltis of Texas, Renee Baccari of California, and Michael DeBlois of Oklahoma. Step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Lee Brown Farmer will be conducted Monday at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold Blackstock officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Sunday during the hours of 2:00pm and 5:00pm.
