Nell Cox Harrison

Mrs. Walter Nell Cox Harrison, age 90, a lifelong resident of Sugar Valley and the Calhoun area, died Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Gordon Health Care following an extended illness. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great granny, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Harrison was born in Chattanooga, TN, on August 7, 1923, daughter of the late Walter T. Davis and Tiny Jane Tippens Davis. She became a member of the Resaca Church of Christ as a young adult. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Robert Lee Cox in 1986; her second husband, Calvin Harrison in 1998; a daughter, Deborah Cox; sisters, Lula Davis, Bertha Floyd and Mildred Bagley; brothers; Tom Davis, Claude Davis and Jack Davis; and a grandson, Jubel Holland.

Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Reed and Annette Moss, both of Calhoun, Donna Smith and her husband Roy of Sugar Valley, and Beverly Holland and her husband Mike of Calhoun; a son, Bobby Cox of Calhoun; grandchildren, Kyle Roberts, Kevin Smith, Kris Roberts, Kenny Moss, Craig Smith, Timmy Cox, Michael Holland, Misty Keller and Candy Turner; great-grandchildren, Brooke Smith, Haley Smith, Hannah Smith, Jocelynn Smith, Krystal Roberts, Bradley Roberts, Autumn Roberts, Dillon Roberts, Kevin Cox, Blaine Cox, Eric Cox, Dylan Keller, Austin Keller, Jaycee Keller, Justin Keller, James Turner and Brianna Turner; and five great-great grandchildren, Sylas Gomer, Mason Gomer, Maycie Roberts, Brantley Achord and Keith Achord. Other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Nell Cox Harrison will be conducted Tuesday December 17th at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Dwaine Shadix and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. A eulogy will be given by her daughter, Beverly Holland. Interment will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Kyle Roberts, Kris Roberts, Kenny Moss, Kevin Smith, Craig Smith, Mike Holland Jr., and Timmy Cox.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 16th between the hours of 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM. at the funeral home.
