Mrs. Nellie Mae Bailey, age 85 of Plainville, passed away Tuesday March 17, 2009 at her residence following several months of illness.
She was born on April 29, 1923 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Miles Conaway and Mozelle Chastain Conaway. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Otis Charles Bailey, by a grandchild, Susan Brown, and by a sister, Annie Hensley. During her lifetime, she was employed in the textile industry, and attended the House of Prayer Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by a daughter, Vivian Brown of Plainville; a sister, Bernice Bailey of Calhoun; four grandchildren, Dwayne Brown, Keith Brown, Brian Brown and his wife, Diane, and Crystal Smith and her husband, Keith; and four great grandchildren, Josh Smith, Kacee Smith, Jake Brown and Matt Brown. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Mae Bailey will be conducted Thursday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Stephen Pearson officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Glenn Burnett, Daryl Hensley, Danny Hensley, Jack Bailey, Shane Watson and Richard Head. Interment will follow the service at the Gordon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Wednesday evening, between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
