Nellie Ruth Johnson

Nellie Ruth Johnson, 76 of Adairsville, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at her home, following several years of declining health. She was born in Gordon County on June 1, 1941, daughter of the late Denard and Esther Pasley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Leroy Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd (Rosie) and Clara Pasley, Harold (Spot) and Ruby Pasley, John Dale (Buddy) Pasley, Doyle Pasley, Donald (Duck) Pasley, and G.W. and Berneise Pasley; and her sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Emory Hicks.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Tammye Johnson of Calhoun, and Bryan and Mickie Johnson of Plainville; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Phil Capehart of Calhoun; sisters-in-law, Pat Pasley of Resaca, Delores Pasley of Calhoun, Debbie Colston Pasley of Adairsville, Dolly Johnson, and Vera Johnson; grandchildren, Kerry Rush, Kelly Silvers, Tiffany Longley, Tyler Johnson, Seth Johnson, Lance Broyles, Ethan Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Cody Kilgore, and Jacob Murphy; and great-grandchildren, Colton Thomason, Riley Johnson, Elyn Silvers, Cameron Longley, and Carter Longley. Special caregivers, Jeanine Black and Kelly Craig, Heyman Hospice Care; nieces, nephews, and cousins, and an aunt, Ruby Lumsden Cornett, also survive.
Services to honor the life of Nellie Ruth Johnson will be held Monday, November 27th at 2:00 PM, from Union Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. David Baker, Rev. Lamar Beason, and Rev. Joel Alexander officiating. Music will be arranged by Kyle Coker and Charles Freeman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Steve Pasley, Nathan Pasley, Adam Pasley, Alex Coker, Trent Coker, and Blake Dean. Honorary pallbearers are Lance Broyles, Ethan Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Seth Johnson, Colton Thomason, Riley Johnson, Brent Silvers, Cody Kilgore, Jacob Murphy, Tim Pasley, and Jeremy Pasley.
The Johnson family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Sunday, November 26th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
