Mrs. Nettie Lou DeFoor Hollingsworth, 86, of Calhoun, Georgia passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, May 3, 2023after a period of declining health. She was born in Gordon County, Georgia on May 7, 1936, the daughter of the late Ed DeFoor and Jeannie Caldwell DeFoor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Roy Hollingsworth June 1, 2022; brothers, J.E. DeFoor, Everett DeFoor, Pedro DeFoor, Otto DeFoor, and Tolbert DeFoor.
Mrs. Hollingsworth was a lifelong resident of Gordon County and owned and operated Keene’s, a ladies clothing store here in Calhoun prior to retirement. She was an avid Braves fan, and was a loyal wife and mother and was of Christian faith and a Baptist.
Survivors include her daughter, Gina Hollingsworth Simonson, and her husband Sam; son, Rick Hollingsworth along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A service to celebrate the life of Nettie Lou DeFoor Hollingsworth will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Stacy Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Bruce Stocks, Zane DeFoor, Bobby Blackstock, Stanley Simpson, Harris Housley, and Bart DeFoor. The children would like to express their appreciation to Homespun Hospice along with caregivers, Vonda York, Janine Black, Laqutta Steely, and Angie Shoemaker for their excellent care and love shown to their mother
The family ask that flowers be omitted and contributions be made in Mrs. Hollingsworth’s memory to Homespun Hospice, 308 North Wall Street, Calhoun, Georgia 30701.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 5th between the hours of 12:00 an 2:00 PM at the funeral home
