Mr. Nevin J. Black, age 69 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 following an extended illness. Mr. Black was born April 8, 1939 in Gordon County, son of the late Ford and Nannie Lee Thomas Black. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, David, Tommy, Eugene, and Trammell Black. Mr. Black worked as a textile worker for several years and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by one sister, Sally Patton and her husband Billy of Scottsville; three brothers, Noel Black and his wife Charlene of Shannon, Earl Black of Adairsville, and Lynn Black of Calhoun; and two daughters, Tammy Rogers and Tina Rhinehart, both of Cartersville. Three grandchildren, seven nephews, five nieces, and two very special friends, Coren Kelly and Helen Hart also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Nevin Black will be conducted Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:00a.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Gaddis officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Active pallbearers include Chris Strickland, Joey Strickland, Richard Black, Greg Webb, Stacy Black, and Marvin Burns. The family will receive friends Thursday between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m.
