Odessa Mae Broyles

Mrs. Odessa Mae Broyles, age 88, of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Gordon Health Care, another angel gone home. She was born in Dekalb County, Alabama on June 10, 1919, daughter of the late William "Ollie" and Ina O'Shield Dobbins. Mrs. Broyles was a homemaker and a member of East Calhoun Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Marvin Chester Broyles; a son, William Eugene Broyles; and a brother, Odus Dobbins.

Survivors include four sons; Arlin Dewayne Broyles, Marvin Broyles, Jr., Jimmy Dean Broyles, and Jerry Don Broyles, all of Calhoun. A special nephew, Ricky Dobbins, eighteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Odessa Mae Broyles will be conducted Monday, July 2, at 2:00pm from the East Calhoun Church of God, with Pastor Keith Reid, Rev. Lamar Hand, and Rev. James Justice officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Duane Broyles, Michael Broyles, Chris Broyles, Scott Broyles, Bryan Broyles, and Christopher Broyles. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Monday at 1:00pm. Honorary pallbearers will include Chris Hall, Jason Justice, Tim Reid, Vernon Pruitt, and Ricky Dobbins. They are asked to meet at the church Monday at 1:45pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
