Mrs. Opal Beal Evans, age 86 of Ranger, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Gordon County on November 25, 1922, daughter of the late Walter and Alma Cox Beal. Mrs. Evans was retired from the textile industry, and was a member of Fairview Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Evans, to whom she had been married for 63 years; and a sister, Odell Corn.
Survivors include three daughters, Juanita Silvers of Calhoun, Geraldine Sanford and her husband David, Sr. of Ranger, and Patsy Blaylock and her husband Ernest of Ranger; a brother, J.W. Beal of Fairmount; three sisters, Earsell Crowe of Fairmount, Estelle Gilbert of Calhoun, and Marnell Buttram of Fairmount; and seven grandchildren, Lamar Silvers, David Sanford, Jr., Karen Loudermilk, Jeff Sanford, Greg Silvers, Kevin Blaylock, and Lisa Gentry. Fourteen great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Beal Evans will be conducted Friday at 11:00am from the Fairview Church of God, with Rev. Ed Pasley and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Kevin Blaylock, David Sanford, Jr., Jeff Sanford, Lamar Silvers, Carl Loudermilk, and Jason Gentry. Great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
