Opal Delia Hales

August 23, 1924 — April 2, 2008

Mrs. Opal Delia Hales, age 83 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Calhoun Health Care following an extended illness. She was born in Cherokee County, GA on August 23, 1924, daughter of the late James Gordon and Cordelia Nickelson Ingram. During her lifetime, Mrs. Hales was employed by the Fairmount School system in the school cafeteria. She attended the College Street Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Luther Hales.

Survivors include a son, Danny Hales of Calhoun; a step-daughter, Leah Mae Williams and her husband Darrell of Resaca; sisters, Vera Bishop and Virginia Chapman, both of Ball Ground, Charlotte Sosebee and her husband Bill, and Melba Hales and her husband Jarrell, both of Chamblee. One grandchild, D.J. Hales, two step-grandchildren, Pamela Johns and Michael Williams, five step great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Delia Hales will be conducted Saturday, April 5 at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Donald Lee and Rev. Junior Craig officiating. Interment will follow in the Crane Eater Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Ben Sosebee, Eric Hales, Rickey Hales, Jerry Hales, Michael Williams, and Anthony Johns. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 12:15pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, beginning at 2:00pm.
