Mrs. Opal Virginia Jolley, age 87 of Calhoun, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Gordon Health Care surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gordon County on November 18, 1925, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Knowles Stansell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Earl Jolley; nine brothers, two sisters, and a son-in-law, Delbert Gray.
Mrs. Jolley was retired from Herbcraft Textiles, and was a member of New Town Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Emory and Carol Jolley, and Grady and Sharon Jolley, all of Calhoun; two daughters, Vicki Jolley of Dahlonega, GA, and Debbie Gray of Calhoun; grandchildren, Danita Abernathy and her husband Kenneth, and Josh Gray; and great-grandchildren, Kenlie Abernathy and Ned Abernathy.
Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Virginia Jolley will be held Tuesday at 2:00pm from the New Town Baptist Church, with Rev. Walter Hare and Rev. Doug Mattox officiating. Music will be arranged by Jeff Rogers. Interment will follow the service in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be deacons of New Town Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers are employees of Gordon Health Care.
Mrs. Jolley will lie in state at New Town Baptist Church Tuesday from 1:00pm until the funeral hour of 2:00pm.
The Jolley family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
