Mrs. Opal Lee Banks Taylor, age 78 of Calhoun, GA died Friday morning, February 21, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Jasper, Alabama on December 23, 1935, daughter of the late Isaac Wilson Banks and Myrtie Jane Banks. Opal was of the Christian Faith and a Baptist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Davis Taylor; a sister, Hassie Lee Thornton; and brothers, Lloyd Banks, Dalton Banks and William Banks.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Freeman and her husband Ricky of Calhoun; a son, Randy Yates and his wife Lori of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Dorothy Lee Clemmons of Bremen, Alabama; grandchildren, Whitney Yates, Ashley Elmore, Megan Laug, Terry Freeman and Shannon Freeman; and great-grandchildren, Aurora Elmore, Christopher Turner, Serenity Turner, Summer Freeman, Katilyn Freeman and Jaxon Memphis Brown. Several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs.Opal Lee Banks Taylor will be held Sunday, February 23rd at 6:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Banks officiating. Burial will follow on Monday, February 24th at New Harmony Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in the Piney Woods Community near Jasper, Alabama at 2:00 PM CST.

The family of Mrs. Opal Lee Banks Taylor will receive friends on Sunday, February 23rd at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, after 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.
