Mrs. Opal Stone Carr age 72 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday December 22, 2009 at Gordon Hospital.
Mrs. Carr was born on July 15, 1937 daughter of the late Fred Brown Stone and Lilly Rosetta Duvall Stone. She was a member of the House of Prayer Baptist Church, and worked many years as a hostess for Shephard's Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Eugene Carr; a daughter, Sara Rose Carr; three brothers, Carl Stone, Harold Stone and Farnell Waldrop; and by three sisters, Dimple Parker, Betty Lou Stone and Ruth Skidmore.
Survivors include a son, Chet Carr of Calhoun; two daughters, Carolyn Carr of Atlanta and Janet Robinson of Calhoun; two granddaughters, Georgia and Tiffany Robinson, both of Calhoun; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Linda Stone of Tilton, GA and Ronald and Mary Frances Stone of Dalton; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Stone Carr will be conducted Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Ralph Sumners, Kevin Thomas and Steve Skidmore officiating. Burial will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Rocky Skidmore, Jason Etheridge, Brian Jackson, Jeff Jackson, Scott Jackson and Robert Carroll. The family will begin receiving friends at the funeral home on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
