Ora Jane Pulliam

Mrs. Ora Jane Pulliam, age 93 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 at her residence following several months of declining health. She was a life-long resident of Gordon County, born on June 6, 1917 to the late George Dean and the late Blanch Flowers Dean.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Vee Pulliam; a son, Garry Pulliam; a daughter, Ellen Hensley; three brothers, Fred Dean, Esco Dean, and D.L. Dean; two sisters, Jessie Hill and Pearl Ray; and three sons-in-law, J.B. Gentry, Fred Brock, and Sonny Buchanan.

Mrs. Pulliam was a homemaker, and was the oldest member of the Curryville Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Estalene Pulliam, Rev. Vernon and Shelby Pulliam, and Melvin and Barbara Pulliam, all of Calhoun; three daughters, Geneva Gentry of Calhoun, Mildred Brock of Calhoun, Ann Buchanan of Ringgold, and Brenda Godfrey and her husband Jim of Calhoun; a sister, Kate Waters of Dalton; a son-in-law, Oliver Hensley of Rome; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Pulliam of Adairsville. Seventeen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ora Jane Pulliam will be conducted Sunday, January 16th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmy Thomas and Rev. Walter Hare officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Whitfield County. Music will be arranged by Nevin Pulliam, Katie Rogers, and Karli Rogers. Active pallbearers will include Nevin Pulliam, Phillip Pulliam, Randy Pulliam, Jared Quinn, Tony Buchanan, and Steve Pulliam.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 4:00pm until 9:00pm.
