Ora Jane Rushing

Mrs. Ora Jane Rushing, 88 of Calhoun, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Gordon Hospital, following several years of declining health. She was born in Kingston, GA on July 22, 1927, daughter of the late Norman S. and Lula Jane Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Rushing, to whom she was married for 50 years; brothers and sister-in-law, A.F. Smith and Luther and Bill Smith, both of Resaca; sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Clyde Davis of Calhoun, and Gwen and Lynn Tweedell of Athens; and a brother-in-law, Junior Wable.

Mrs. Rushing was a retired hairdresser. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.

She leaves behind her sons and daughters-in-law, Lane and Jennie DeFoor of Calhoun, Zane and Janie DeFoor of Resaca, Lee and Barbara Rushing of Calhoun, and Terry and Edena Rushing of Calhoun; a sister, Norma Wable of Dalton; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services to honor the life of Mrs. Ora Jane Rushing will be held Wednesday, March 23rd at 2:00 PM from Belmont Baptist Church, with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Pastor Steve Morrow officiating. Mrs. Rushing's body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until the service hour. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens, with Dr. John Allen officiating. Music will be arranged by Kayla Fair, Brandon Bennett, and Learell Faulk. Pallbearers will include Ricky DeFoor, Josh DeFoor, Tim DeFoor, Chad DeFoor, Brandon Rushing, and T.J. Rushing.

The Rushing family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 22nd from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
