Otto Timms

Mr. Lee Otto Timms, age 79 of Calhoun, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family, from Alzheimer's, a disease from which there is no cause or cure. He was a life-long resident of Gordon County, born on June 8, 1931 to the late Columbus and Susie Culberson Timms. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by Gene Timms, Clay Brooks, Bobby Brooks, and Randy Brooks; two brothers, James Timms and Albert Timms; and three sisters, Joan Rivers, Susie Mae Timms, and Lavada Bramblett.

Otto had been owner and operator of Paradise Drag Strip since 1961. He was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army in Korea.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carol Meyers Timms; two sons, Preston Timms and his wife Jean of Ranger, and Lee Timms and his wife Renee of Calhoun; two daughters, Susan Fletcher and her husband Jeff of Calhoun, and Cindy Brooks of Chattanooga, TN; two brothers, Paul Timms of Ringgold, and David Timms of Calhoun; and two sisters, Johnnie Mae Lowery of Warner Robins, and Ruth Harris of Soddy-Daisy, TN. Grandchildren surviving are Becky Merz, Dedra Timms, Stephanie Morgan, Brian Lang, Kenny Timms, Chase Timms, Brittney Logan, Ashley Breneman, Allison Breneman, Brady Timms, Christopher Fletcher, Cameron Fletcher, Megan Knight, and Cody Timms. A host of niece and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Lee Otto Timms will be conducted Wednesday, March 2nd at 2:00pm from the Maranatha Baptist Church, with Rev. Eddie Brannon, Rev. Clifford Free, and Rev. Dan Hogan officiating. Active pallbearers will include Tony Timms, Ty Bramblett, Brett Timms, Harold Lowery, Jimmy Green, and Mitchell Timms. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home Wednesday at 1:15pm.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
