Paul Edward Barton

Mr. Paul E. Barton, 71, of Resaca, GA, died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Gordon Hospital, following two years of declining health.

He was born in Gordon County, GA on August 9, 1945, son of the late Buel and Otha Mae Carey Barton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Barton.

Paul was a lifelong resident of Gordon County, and was co-owner of Calhoun Plastics, Inc., and Engineered Textile Products, Inc. He loved his family and cherished his many friends, colleagues and faithful employees. He was a member of the Calhoun Elks Lodge - B.P.O.E. #1883, and the Sons of the American Legion, Post #47. He enjoyed the outdoors, and his favorite past time was fishing

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Barton, to whom he was married for 37 years; his daughters, Jada Barton and Megan Barton; his sons, Jason Slade Barton and his wife Farrah, and Zac Barton; a granddaughter, Bayly Barton; a nephew, Chris Poarch; sisters, Dell McBee and her husband Johnny, Margie Johnson and her husband Tom, and Tammy Defoor. A host of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Paul E. Barton will be conducted Sunday, February 26th at 3:00 PM from Sugar Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Mitch Phillips and Rev. Steve Morrow officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, with Dr. William Roberts officiating. Pallbearers serving are asked to assemble at Sugar Valley Baptist Church at 2:30 PM Sunday, and include Raymond Brown, Ken Harrison, Greg Causby, Ed Harkins, James Hyde and Caris Roland. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Marshall, Employees and Management of Calhoun Plastics, Calhoun Elks, and the Sons of the American Legion.
The Barton family will receive friends at Sugar Valley Baptist Church on Saturday, February 25th from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
