Paul W. Thompson

Mr. Paul W. Thompson age 75, of Calhoun passed away Tuesday January 22, 2008 at Gordon Hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Thompson was born in Monroe, TN on April 10, 1932, son of the late Harvey and Rachel Farner Thompson. He was a member of the Welcome Gap Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years, and worked in the laundry at O.J. Mills for many years.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; Perlie and Clarence Thompson, three sisters; Marie Davis, Anna Mae Rollen and Gertrude Fry, and by a grandson Russell Davis.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years; Anna Sue Mullins Thompson of Calhoun; one son, Ricky Thompson and his wife Jean of Calhoun; two daughters, Carolyn Gregory and her husband Ronnie of Scottsville, and Janice Davis and her husband Joey of Calhoun; one sister; Lillie Mae Scott and her husband Arthur of Niota, TN; grandchildren; Dee Gardner, Misty and Chuck Wiley, Bobby Salcedo, Jennifer Davis and Nathaniel Young. Two great grandchildren; Ricky and Justin Salcedo; nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services for Mr. Paul W. Thompson will be conducted Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Larry Hayes and Joey Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday after 5:00 p.m., until the funeral hour at 8:00 p.m. Mr. Thompson will be taken to the Community Baptist Church in Niota, TN on Thursday at 12 noon to lie in state for one hour. A service will follow in the church at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Anthony Gregory, Tommy Gregory, Jeremy Gregory, Chris Barnes, Bobby Banks, Ken Talley and Anthony McDaniel.
