Obituary

Pauline Smith Greeson Chastain, 95, of Calhoun, died Monday, January 22, 2018 at Gordon Health Care. She was born in Gordon County on April 11, 1922, daughter of the late James Morrison Smith and the late Tennie Moss Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Boyce Greeson; her second husband, Dennis Chastain; her sons, Lamar Greeson and Wayne Greeson; brothers, James Morrison Smith, Jr., and Robert Eugene Smith; and her sister, Arah Smith Patterson.
Pauline was a great cook and seamstress. She enjoyed cooking for her family and church family. Her fried chicken will always be remembered by many. She was a member of Blackwood Springs Baptist Church and was very faithful until her health prevented her from attending. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Kelly Cornwell, and Judy and Clifton Smith; a daughter-in-law, Kay Greeson; a sister-in-law, Jane Smith; grandchildren, Shelly (Mike) Long, Sabrina (Keith) Thomas, Nicole (Mike) Dooley, and Eric (Christie) Greeson; great-grandchildren, Ashley Long, Morgan Pierce (Slader), Corey Greeson, Jacob Greeson, Taylor Burns, Lacie and Chloe Thomas, Elauria Mattox, and Lily Mattox; and great-great grandchildren, Wyatt Pierce, Knox Pierce, and Sophia Burns.
A service to celebrate the life of Pauline Greeson Chastain will be held Wednesday, January 24th at 5:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Music will be arranged by Faye Prather and Ronnie Hammontree.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Damascus Baptist Church for 'Cemetery Maintenance' , 121 Swan Drive, Resaca, GA 30735.
