P.J. Mathis

P.J. Mathis, age 26 of Resaca, passed away Tuesday September 2, 2008 from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born in Henderson, Texas on December 18, 1981, son of James Lewis and Martha Irene Mathis. He was employed at D&J Carpet Services and attended Resaca Church of God. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Martha Croye, Eirl Bois Mansell, Hazel Christine Baines and William Wyle Mathis.

Survivors include his wife, Jamie Michelle Banks Mathis; parents, James Lewis Mathis and Martha Irene Mansell Mathis of Resaca; a son, Samuel Lewis Mathis; two brothers and a sister-in-law, William Wyle Mathis and his wife Margeratta Mathis, and Douglas Lee Johnson, all of Calhoun.

Funeral services for P.J. Mathis will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Coomer officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Brandon Mathis, Tyler Montane, Floyd Mansell, Josh McEntyre, Chris Dixon, Ryan Arnold and Josh Kelin. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. The family will received friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Friday, after 5:00 p.m.
