Mr. P. R. Callaway, 87 of Resaca, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was born in Gordon County on October 1, 1930, son of the late Bartow and Sudie Jones Callaway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Frances Virginia Callaway; a daughter, Carol Ann Callaway; and siblings, Johnny Callaway, Joe Callaway, Norman Lyons, Cora Serritt, Deborah Joyce, and Loretta Callaway.
Mr. Callaway had retired from Shaw Industries as a Truck Driver. He was a member of Praise the Lord Church.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Ricky Callaway and Gene Callaway, both of Dalton, and Randy and April Callaway of Resaca; his daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Robert Stinson of Dalton; a brother, Lohnny Callaway; a sister, Nora Eden of Calhoun; grandchildren, Wesley Stinson, Lee Callaway, and Cody Callaway; step-grandchildren, Kristin Fortenberry and Aaron Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Ian Stinson, Braden Callaway, Cole Callaway, Madison Callaway, Brooklyn Callaway, and Wyatt Callaway.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. P. R. Callaway will be held Wednesday, January 10th at 2:00 PM, from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Donny Mattila officiating. Interment will follow in Old Sugar Valley UMC Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Carl Callaway, R.L. Callaway, Grady Serritt, Jason Serritt, Bradley Partion, and Aaron Thomas.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 9th at 5:00 PM.
