Rachel Kathleen Payne Coggins

Mrs. Rachel Kathleen Payne Coggins, age 80 of Dalton, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 following four months of illness.

Mrs. Coggins was born on February 14, 1927 in Summerville, daughter of the late William Ernest Payne and Lelia Waddell Payne. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Jessie Border Coggins. She was a member of Central Church of Christ of Dalton.

Mrs. Coggins is survived by two sons, Roger Dale Johnston and his wife Tonyia of Dalton, and Jack Dean Coggins of Dalton; one daughter, Erika Stone of Dalton; two sisters, Edna Pack and her husband Raymond, and Nellie Gentry; and one brother, Paul Franklin Payne, all of Calhoun.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Kathleen Coggins will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Charlie Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Jackie Waddell, Gary Gentry, Jimmy Gentry, and Robin Gentry. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Monday evening, between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
