Ralph David Pierce

Mr. Ralph David Pierce, Sr., age 60 of Calhoun, died Monday, January 31, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Pickens County, GA on October 27, 1950, son of the late Grady Lee Pierce and Ora Mae Kinsey Pierce. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Pierce.

Mr. Pierce was a millworker and farmer during his lifetime. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a NASCAR fan, with Tony Stewart being his favorite driver.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Kathy Yvonne Patterson Pierce; four sons, Ralph David Pierce, Jr., Jason Pierce, Keith Ray, and Marty Ray; three daughters, Christine Pierce, Tina Bartley, and Susie Baine; six sisters, Lavern Boudreaux, Claudine Brock, Retha Burns, Betty Sertain, Joanne Barrett, and Barbara Cannon; and two brothers, Albert Pierce and Dennis Pierce. Grandchildren surviving are Fred Hensley, Brad Ray, Josh Floyd, Cameron Floyd, Justin Vasquez, Rebecca Vasquez, Alisha Ray, Amber Hensley, and Christina Hensley; and great-grandchildren, Mason Price and Lacie Mae Hensley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Ralph David Pierce, Sr. will be conducted Thursday, February 3rd at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Darrial Aikins officiating. Interment will follow in the Crane Eater Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers and include Josh Floyd, Cameron Floyd, Justin Vazques, Brad Ray, David Higgins, Ben Jones, and Jerry Jones. Honorary pallbearers are David Higgins and Steve Cannon.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 11:00am until the funeral hour of 1:00pm.
