Mr. Raymond Ferguson, age 87, of Calhoun, passed away Monday, February 5, 2007, at Gordon Hospital following several weeks of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on November 12, 1919, son of the late Alton and Rinda Muse Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Gentry Ferguson, on October 4, 1999.
Mr. Ferguson was a retired machine operator with Lockheed-Georgia Aircraft Corporation, and a member of Belmont Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II.
Survivors include a daughter; Rita Sells, of Jefferson, Georgia; a sister; Mary Ferguson Tippens, of Calhoun; two grandchildren; Matthew and Ethan Sells; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Raymond Ferguson will be conducted Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hawkins and Rev. Clay Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Brent Cochran, Jeff Baker, Clay Baker, Barron Baker, Clint Baker, and Brett Cochran. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Tuesday evening during the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
