Mr. Raymond J. Silvers of Ranger, went home to live with the Lord Saturday, March 29, 2008, following several years of declining health.

Raymond had been a lifetime resident of the Gordon County community and a member of the Mount Carmel Church of Jesus Christ. For the entirety of his life, Raymond had been very close with his family and was dearly loved by all. He was a self employed as a carpenter for many years. Raymond enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. He was an avid and talented horseman.

Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Betty House Silvers; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Kenneth Baldwin of Ranger, Helen and Marty Jordon of Calhoun, Wanda and Wayne Perry of Tunnell Hill, and Linda and Mike Belyew of Trenton, Tennessee; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Pat Silvers of Fairmount; and a special brother-in-law whom he had raised and cared for as his own son, R. Lewis House. Many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Raymond Silvers will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Wilburn Childers officiating. Active pallbearers serving will include Brent Silvers, Paul Underwood, Ricky Silvers, Rex Evans, Frank Bramlett, Cody L. House, Richard Howard and Michael Howard. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders of the church, Henry Kirby and Brownie Ezell. Interment will follow the service at the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Monday, beginning at 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m.
