Rembert Hendrix

Mr. Rembert Hendrix, age 65 of Fairmount, passed away at his residence Wednesday, July 8, 2009 following an extended illness.

He was born on February 28, 1944 in Pickens County, Georgia, son of Mettie Elizabeth Young Hendrix and the late Charlie Randolph Hendrix. Mr. Hendrix retired from Bennett Motors in Rydal, was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, and the Fairmount Lodge # 349 F & AM of Fairmount.

Mr. Hendrix is survived by his wife of 38 years, Wanda Hendrix; three daughters, Rochelle Cantrell and her husband Scotty, Jaronda Crook and her husband Jeff, all of Fairmount, and Crystal Hendrix of Ranger; mother, Mrs. Mettie Hendrix of Ranger; and three brothers, Clinton Hendrix, Blanton Hendrix and his wife Kate, and Truman Hendrix and his wife Glenda, all of Ranger. Grandchildren, Nicole Reece and her husband Chad of Jasper, Joshua Cantrell, Jonathon Crook, and Hannah Crook, all of Fairmount; a great grandchild, Brayden Reece of Jasper, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Rembert Hendrix will be conducted Friday at 2:00pm from the New Hope Baptist Church, with Rev. Earnest Channell officiating. Music will be arranged by the New Hope Trio. Active pallbearers serving will include Dr. Gary Lemmons, Charlie Long, Harry Peirce, Renneth Hendrix, Marvin Hendrix and Dorsey Long. These gentlemen are request to meet at the funeral home Friday at 12:30pm.. Officers and members of Fairmount Lodge # 349 F & AM will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic graveside rites being conducted by the Fairmount Lodge # 349 F & AM. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday, after 5:00pm. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in Mr. Hendrix's memory.
