Rev. James Stanford Braddy, age 88 of Trion, GA passed away Thursday, March 09, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.
Rev. Braddy was born in Trion, Georgia on November 23, 1928, son of the late Mack Posey Braddy and Essie Perkins Braddy. He was a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church and was a member of the Mens Sunday School Class. Rev. Braddy had been a minister of the Gospel since 1955 and pastored and served as interim pastor at many churches including Texas Grove Baptist Church in Spring City, TN; Mount Zion Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA; New Antioch Baptist Church, Calhoun; Antioch Baptist Church, Calhoun; Hall Memorial Baptist Church; Central Avenue Baptist Church, Trion; Hopewell Baptist Church, Bridgeport, AL; Wood Station Baptist Church, Lafayette; Providence Baptist Church; McMinnville, TN; Oothcalooga Baptist Church, Adairsville; Mt. Calvary Baptist Church; Solid Rock Baptist Church, Trion; Silver Hill Baptist Church, Gore; and Midway Baptist Church, Summerville. Rev. Braddy had a love for people and it showed in his interaction with people. He could often be seen at Trade Day and McDonalds, but could easily be talked in to a round of Golf. In addition to his parents, Rev. Braddy was preceded in death by his son, James Timothy "Timmy" Braddy; an infant brother; his sisters, Lorraine, Maxine, Betty, and Frances, and a granddaughter, Haley Griers.
Rev. Braddy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Braddy; daughters and son-in-law, Lynn and Chuck Barnett and Susan Pope; grandchildren, Jeff Young, Lori Young Casey, Brian Cobb and Jason Braddy; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Rev. Braddy will be held Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Weaver and Rev. Tony Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Brandon Bishop officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Young, Brian Cobb, Tylor Cobb, Brandon Bishop, Grant Latta and Mike Woods. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Mens Sunday School Class of Dry Valley Baptist Church.
Rev. Braddy will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
