Rev. John Luther Bearden

Rev. John Luther Bearden, 86 of Calhoun, died early Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Erlanger Medical Center, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Dalton, GA on October 20, 1930, son of the late Rev. L.J. Bearden and the late Mary Clark Bearden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Bearden on January 4, 2011; and by brothers and sisters.
John was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army, and had pastored churches for 51 years, including Tilton Baptist Church, Faith Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church, New Town Baptist Church, and Damascus Baptist Church. He was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Tina Babb Bearden; his sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel Michael and Marilee Bearden, and James David Bearden; his daughter and son-in-law, Martha Lynn and Alan Dabbs; grandchildren, Carrie Bearden, Shannon Bailey, Chase Bearden, Micah Bearden, Johnathon Walraven, Zachary Bearden, and Kylie Bearden; and great-grandchildren, Emily Lynn Bailey, and Hannah and Katie. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Services to honor the life of Rev. John Luther Bearden will be held Monday, November 21st at 2:00 PM from Calhoun First Baptist Church, with Dr. John Barber and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton on Tuesday, November 22nd at 12:30 PM. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Faith Seekers Sunday School Class, and area Ministers.
The Bearden family will receive friends at Calhoun First Baptist Church on Monday, from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 2:00 PM.
