Mr. Richard Jerry White, age 68 of Red Bud Road, Ranger, died Wednesday June 17th, 2009 at his residence following several years of declining health.
Mr. White was born in Gordon County, Georgia on January 21, 1941, son of the late Richard and Ella Mae Stephens White. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting quail, gardening, collecting nostalgic farm equipment and housekeeping items, and was one who got the greatest enjoyment just being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jerry served his country as a member of the Georgia National Guard from 1963 until 1969. He was Christian and was retired from the textile industry.
Mr. White was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Pledger, an infant sister Bessie Kate White, and by two brothers-in-law, Ray Dutton and Charles Shaw.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Findley White to whom he was married for 43 years; a daughter, Suzanne Stephens of Calhoun; two sons, Lou White and his wife Angela of Ranger, and Bryant White and his wife Anne Marie of Range;. one brother, Donny White and his wife Shelia of Ranger; three sisters, Charlotte Shaw of Calhoun, Joan Dutton of Adairsville, and Joy Dutton and her husband John of Rydal; three brothers-in-law, Sammy Findley and his wife Edna Mae of Adairsville, Garland Foster of Fairmount, and Frank Pledger of Ranger. Twelve grandchildren, and special friends Jonathan, Heather, Anson and Abbi Taylor, and Michelle and Presley Gross, along with other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Richard Jerry White of Ranger will be held on Friday June 19, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Collins and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Rev. Maynard Thomas will have charge of the service at the graveside. Active pallbearers serving will include Mark Gilbert, Phillip Gilbert, Jonathan Taylor, Alvin Reynolds, Pete Townsend, and Mike Nixon. Honorary pallbearers will include Jack McGaskey, C.J. Blalock, Roy Pierce, Johnny McBee, Duck Townsend, Bruce Kelley, and nephews. In addition to flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, 355 Lexington Avenue, 15th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
The White family will receive friends Thursday between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
