Richard Knight

Richard Lowery Knight, 66, of Calhoun died on Monday, August 28, 2017, at Erlanger Medical Center. Richard was born in Huntsville, Alabama on June 13, 1951; he was the son of the late Fred and Irma Nix Knight. Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Jodie Bishop. Richard graduated from Newsite High School. He attended Auburn University where he received a degree in textile engineering in 1973. At Auburn, he played basketball. Keeping up with his Auburn Tigers Football Team was very important to Richard. After graduation, Richard came to the Calhoun area to work in the textile industry. He worked for Harbinger, and was currently the plant manager for Shaheen Carpet, where he has worked for twenty years. Richard loved gardening, yardwork, and making desserts for his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon Bell Knight, with whom he shared twenty-seven years; his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Ladd Rosser; his niece, Susan; his nephew, Edward; his brother-in-law, Gary (Barbara) Fuller; his sisters-in-law, Retha (Garry) Kidd, and Betty Jo Grant; other relatives and close friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation on Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Eddie Brannon will officiate.
