Richard Lee Blackstock

Mr. Richard Lee Blackstock, age 80 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at his home. He was born in Gordon County on October 4, 1933, son of the late Marvin Lee and Maude Gallman Blackstock.
As a young boy, Richard grew up in Resaca and the Nicklesville Community. He attended Pine Chapel School until eighth grade, and transferred to Red Bud School where he met his future wife, Amogene Dutton, whom he married September 5, 1953. In early adulthood he played basketball, softball and worked on his Dads farm. Richard went to work at Lockheed in Marietta in 1953 and remained there for the next 43 years. He was most proud of his family. He was a member of New Town Baptist Church.
He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Amogene Dutton Blackstock; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Teresa Blackstock of Sugar Valley; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Davis of Calhoun, and Julie and Vann Harmon of Resaca; a brother and sister-in-law, Perry and Carolyn Blackstock of Calhoun; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and Pat Baker, and Jean and Henry Parrott, all of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Crystal Davis Sumner and Chad, Coley Davis, Charity Blackstock Arrivillaga and Miker, Cherith Blackstock Locklear and Adam, Wendy Trundle and Chad, Gabriel Harmon, Cooper Harmon, and Autumn Gibson and Ryan. Great-grandchildren are Ashlyn Trundle, Brayson Trundle, Caylon Trundle, Anna and Ethan Gibson, Kade Locklear, Tristan Arrivillaga, and Abram, Maddie, and Jax Sumner. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Richard Lee Blackstock will be held Tuesday, August 19th at 2:00 PM from the New Town Baptist Church, with Rev. Tommy Crider and Rev. Walter Hare officiating. Mr. Blackstocks body will lie in state at the church Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the service hour. Music will be arranged by the Cochran Family. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Ryan Gibson, Chad Trundle, Adam Locklear, Miker Arrivillaga, Chad Sumner, Scott Blackstock, Rex Baker, and Coley Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Blackstock, Herbert Blackstock, Harold Stamey, Dwight Dutton, Cooper Harmon, James Allen, Gabe Harmon, and Sanford Sisson.
Words cannot express our appreciation and love for Robin and Lisa from North Star Hospice. You were invaluable. To our friend Margaret and beloved cousin Anita, may God keep you and bless you for going beyond the call of duty.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Multiple Sclerosis Georgia Chapter and the Georgia Chapter Alzheimers Association.
The Blackstock family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday, August 18th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
