Rickey Lou Petty (Pete), 65, of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, following several months of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on October 29, 1957, to the late Otis and Bessie Bradley Petty. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Petty, and brother-in-law, Don Huff.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Vilinda Petty; sons and daughters, Rebecca Overby, Emily Dempsey, Timothy (Libby) Singleton, and Chris (Brandy) Newport; brothers, Jackie (Kathy) Petty, Otis (Margie) Petty, Jimmy (Suzanne) Petty; sisters, Lila (Kenneth) Phillips, Ruth (R.M.) Hice, Kathy Huff; sister-in-law, Glenda Petty; grandchildren, Hailie Dempsey, Elizabeth Dempsey, Jameson Dempsey, Annabelle Singleton; other grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Rickey loved to spend time with his family. He worked many years in the construction industry and enjoyed deer hunting and being out in nature.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons. Burial will follow in Fairview Hall Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Randall Carnes, Rilee Carnes, Timothy Singleton, Donny Hice, David King, and Garrett Rogers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, from 12 Noon until the service hour of 2:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons.
