R.M. Greeson

Mr. R.M. Greeson, age 82 of Calhoun, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Gordon Hospital following nine months of declining health. He was a native of Gordon County, born on February 28, 1929 to the late Luke and Aline Jones Greeson.

Mr. Greeson was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He was retired as a self-employed carpenter, and a member of the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Barbara Sue Stone Greeson; three sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Kathy Greeson of Calhoun, Todd and Melody Greeson of Resaca, and Lane and Elisa Greeson of Resaca; two daughters, Kathy Yanosy and her husband Mike of Plainville, and Stacey Greeson of Calhoun; a brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Karen Greeson of Resaca; and two sisters, Ovaline Dinning of Carrollton, and Joanne Bragg Ellis of Dalton. Grandchildren surviving are Zac Wilson, Josh Greeson, Emily Wilson, Stephanie Williams, Colby Mincey, Kirbi Mincey, Annsley Greeson, and Presley Greeson; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn Wilson, Emmanuel Wilson, Caden Williams, Elle Greeson, Gus Wilson, Hannah Grace Greeson, Brody Williams, and June Wilson.

Funeral services for Mr. R.M. Greeson will be held Tuesday, May 17th at 2:00pm from the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Ken Conner and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Fain Cemetery with Rev. David Bragg conducting the committal service. Mr. Greeson will lie in state at the church from 1:00pm until the funeral hour of 2:00pm. Active pallbearers are Edsel (Red) Robbins, Harold Shaw, Russell Edwards, Bill Tierce, Ray Tierce, Bob Lance, Robert Davis, David Bragg, and Kirk Bragg. Honorary escort will be members of the Joy Sunday School class of Blackwood Springs Baptist Church.

The Greeson family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
