Mr. Robert "Doc" Fletcher age 92 of Calhoun died Staurday April 11, 2013 at his daughter's residence following a decline in his health.
Mr. Fletcher was born in Calhoun, Georgia on June 5, 1920, son of the late C.R. and Bonnie Etta Sloan Fletcher. He was a high school graduate having attended Belwood and Pine Chapel School and was a standout Basketball player. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II with three campaigns under General Patton and was at the Battle of the Buldge, he received numerous commendations and medals including the Bronze Star. After his military service he was employed by Lockheed Martin and retired after 30 years of employment and he was a member of Oothcalooga Baptist Church in Adairsville and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Venita Stewart Fletcher on December 28, 2004 and by a son, Johnny Lee Fletcher in 2001, Infant daughter, Abby Fletcher in 1957 and by a grandson, Shane Eugene Densmore in 2006, three brothers C.L. Fletcher, Max Fletcher and Truman Fletcher and three sisters, Mable Joe Fletcher West, Bonnie Louise Fletcher Thompson and Flonnie Lee Fletcher Talley.
Survivors include a daughter, Patty Fletcher Densmore and her husband Al of Calhoun and a son, Michael Fletcher and his wife Patricia of Calhoun. One sister, Shirley Fletcher of Calhoun and by five grandchildren, Benita Ann Densmore, Christy Brown, Suzanne Fletcher, Jeremy Fletcher and Adam Fletcher. Great grandchildren include Ryan, Justin and Hope Brown.
Funeral services for Mr. Robert "Doc" Fletcher will be conducted Saturday April 13th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Hibberts officiatint. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers serving include, Wesley Brown, Anthony Bohannon, Charlie Stanley, William Boswell, Stephen Belcher and Jack Stewart.
The family will receive friends Friday evening between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 PM at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home.
