Mr. Robert Lee Goswick, age 83 of Tunnell Hill, GA died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Ridgewood Manor in Dalton following a year of declining health.
Mr. Goswick was born in Whitfield County on April 14, 1930, son of the late James Marion Goswick and the late Bessie Lee Owen Goswick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Leonard (Eddie) Goswick, Harold Eugene Goswick and Paul Marion Goswick; and a sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Rev. Charles Moulton.
Prior to his retirement he was employed by PatCraft, Wal-Mart, and enjoyed being a vendor at the Big D Flea Market. He was an accomplished musician, and had played with the Chattanooga Symphony. He was a faithful member of Crosspointe Christian Center in Dalton.
Mr. Goswick is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Martin Goswick, to whom he was married for 44 years; two daughters, Rita Diann Goswick Bartley of Dalton, and Cherie Mathis and her husband Gary of Ringgold; three sons, William Robert (W.R.) Goswick and his wife Jimmie of Calhoun, Wesley Garren and his wife Beverly of Dalton, and Eddie Goswick of Dalton; two sisters, Clara Nell Smith and her husband Herman of Dalton, and Joyce Ann Smith and her husband Junior of Chatsworth; the mother of his son W.R. and daughter Rita, Annie Lou Goswick; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Goswick of Dalton. Nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Robert Lee Goswick will be held Sunday, December 29th at 4:00 PM from Crosspointe Christian Center in Dalton, with Bro. Milton Smith, Jr, and Bro. Bruce Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers serving include Chuck Wells, Ryan Goswick, Brett James, Zach Mathis, John Modean, Joseph Duke, Simon Ngure and Mathew Dubus. Honorary pallbearers will include George "Mike" Goswick and Gary Mathis.
The Goswick family will receive friends Sunday, December 29th between the hours of 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM at Crosspointe Christian Center in Dalton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Crosspointe Christian Center
