Mr. Robert M. Goble, Sr., age 87 of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 09, 2007.
Mr. Goble was born on July 13, 1919 in Gilmer County, Georgia, son of the late William Goble and Sally Simmons Goble. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dessie Stansell Goble on June 01, 2003. Mr. Goble proudly served his country with the United States Army during World War II, and was a decorated veteran earning the American Theater Ribbon, Eamet Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Following the end of the war, he returned home where he became employed as a carpenter. He was a member and Deacon of Hall Memorial Baptist Church.
Mr. Goble is survived by one son; Robert Goble Jr. and his wife Teena of Dallas, Texas; two granddaughters; Stephanie Goble and Amy Goble, both of Dallas. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Robert M. Goble, Sr. will be conducted Monday at 4:00 p.m. from the Hall Memorial Baptist Church, with Rev. Leon Hall, Rev. Keeley Hasty, and Rev. Pat Potts officiating. Singing will be arranged by Mrs. Pat Potts. Pallbearers serving will include Randy Fouts, Rusty Whitt, Bobby Barton, Dan Bohannon, Fred Goble, Duane Bohannon, and Terry Bohannon. Burial will follow the service in the family lot of the Fairview Cemetery at Hall Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Sunday evening during the hours of 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
