Robert Mckinnon

Mr. Robert C. McKinnon, age 70 of Calhoun, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at Erlanger Medical Center. He was born in Douglas, GA on June 14, 1943, son of the late Jessie Carroll McKinnon and the late Mary Ree Bolton McKinnon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Randall Troy McKinnon and Stanley Wade McKinnon.

Mr. McKinnon was owner and operator of McKinnon Satellite Systems.

Robert was a member of Belmont Baptist Church, was active in the choir, and a member of the Rat-L-Trap Sunday School Class. He was a member of Club Y, a member of Hands and Feet Ministry, and was an avid tennis player, being a member of the USTA.

He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Sonja Barrington McKinnon; a son, Matt McKinnon of Calhoun; a daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Scott Bradbary of Brentwood, TN; a brother and sister-in-law, Loel and Martha McKinnon of Calhoun; and a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Kenneth Mathews of Fitzgerald, GA; and two sisters-in-law, Brenda McKinnon and Lois McKinnon. Grandchildren surviving are Charles Barrington Bradbury, Parker Reaves Bradbary, and Mary Jane McKinnon. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Robert C. McKinnon will be held Thursday, October 31st at 11:00 AM from Belmont Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiating. The family eulogy will be given by Scott Bradbary. Music will be arranged by Jim Sellers, Carol Pruett, and Ray Fowler. Active pallbearers will include Gary Duke, Roger Burnley, Harry Harwell, Charles Bradbary, Drew Rowell, Dusty Dowdy, Joe Ragsdale, and Wilber Acree. Honorary pallbearers are Club Y members, the Rat-L-Trap Sunday School Class of Belmont Baptist Church, and members of the Gideons. Committal will follow the service in Fain Cemetery.

The McKinnon family will receive friends at Belmont Baptist Church Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and Thursday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
