Mr. Robert Wayne Stamps, age 63 of Plainville, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on February 23, 1946 in Cedartown, son of Margaret Cash Stamps and the late Robert Eural Stamps. During his lifetime he served his country with the United States Army, and retired from Galey & Lord as an electrician. Mr. Stamps was a member of Lakeview Pentecostal Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Nell Reynolds Stamps, to whom he had been married for 16 years; six daughters, Rita Hall and her husband Marlon of Plainville, Tammy Dotson and her husband Nolan of Woodstock, Kathy Maples and her husband Philip of Shannon, Marlene Turner and her husband Todd of Calhoun, and Faith Stamps and Brett Morgan of Cedartown; a son, Randy Elkins and his wife Tracy of Cedartown; his mother, Margaret Medford of Del Rio, Texas; and two brothers, Danny Stamps and his wife Rena of Penson, Alabama, and Larry Stamps and his wife Evelyn of Del Rio, Texas. Twenty grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Wayne Stamps will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00pm from the Lakeview Pentecostal Church, with Brother Charles Roberts officiating. Active pallbearers serving will include Donald Brunner, Terry Hall, Josh Dotson, Derrick Dotson, Matthew Turner and Barry Mount. Honorary pallbearers serving will include Marlon Hall, Nolan Dotson and Todd Turner. Interment will follow the service in the Scott Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Monday evening, during the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
