Mr. Roger A. (Tony) Allen, age 61 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Walker County on August 16, 1948, son of the late Clarence Eugene and Martha Opal Spivey Allen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James A. and Bertie Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Johnny Wilson.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Allen was a Lab Technician with Mannington Mills. He was an avid bass fisherman, and belonged to the Gordon County Bass Club. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Ryo.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Sandra Fay Wilson Allen; two sons and daughters-in-law, Cain and Mandy Allen, and Jason and Tonya Parker, all of Calhoun; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Mike Lyle of Dalton; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carly and Vickey Hamsley, and Jimmy and Carol Wilson, all of Calhoun; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Wilson. Grandchildren surviving are Josh, Cheyenne, Brodey, and Brook-Lynn Allen; Haley and Hunter Parker, and McKayla, Mackenzie, and Macee Hall. Nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Roger A. (Tony) Allen will be conducted Monday, July 26th at 2:00pm from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Ryo, with Rev. Harold Owens and Rev. Ronnie Howard officiating. Mr. Allen's body will lie state at the church on Monday from 1:00pm until the funeral hour of 2:00pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Music will be arranged by family and friends. Active pallbearers will include Billy Wilson, Michael Wilson, Bodey Holbert, Keith Lyle, Tony West, and Josh West. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gordon County Bass Club.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00pm until 8:00pm.
