Ronald Lee Gibson

March 4, 1944 — September 24, 2016

Ronald Lee Gibson, 72 of Calhoun, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. He was born in Manassa, CO on March 4, 1944, son of the late Elmer Paul Gibson, Sr. and Elva Jane Johnson Gibson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorrie Lynn Gibson; brothers, Leo Moore, Lesley J. Gibson, and Elmer Paul Gibson, Jr.; and sisters, Doris Jean Bobst, and Marilyn Evonne Fogerty.
Ronald Lee Gibson was a beloved Husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. He was a genuine man of God, who was completely honest in all of his ways. Holding the office of a High Priest in the Holy Melchizedek Priesthood in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is just a prime example of who Ron was as a person. He was always working to support his family and was always willing to help someone in need. Never shirking his responsibilities or commitments, a leader of men through his spiritual authority, high intellect, and many talents. He led by example of how to work hard, obey the laws of God and man, providing for his family, and helping the poor and needy. People may have called him a workaholic because he was always doing some sort of work from sun up to sun down, aside from Sundays. Despite being the worker he was, he always made time for his sweetheart and wife of 50 years, children, and grandchildren that he loved more than life itself. Ron was one of the best and most highly skilled custom wood worker in the world, bar none. People called on him to do the jobs that no one else could, such as: beautifully ornate window frames in churches and temples, recreating the rose wood dash assembly on a rare antique Rolls Royce, a captain's wheel on a 19th century Mississippi River boat, or a custom piano bar in the most expensive hotel in the city. Ron could do anything with wood and his completed work was always perfect, as was his love for his family. We are so lucky that his art is all over the world, to be admired and loved always. He will be missed dearly every moment of every day for the rest of our lives until we meet again.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Lewis-Gibson; his sons, Loren Shane Gibson, and Timothy Shawn Hill, both of Plainville; daughters and sons-in-law, Dieni Lynn and Brent Montgomery of Plainville, and Danelle Gibson and Clint Fesler of Adairsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leland and Cecilia Gibson of Anaheim, California, and Donald Bruce and Ann Gibson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a sister-in-law, Gayle Gibson of Pocatello, Idaho. Grandchildren surviving are Cassandra Jean Hill, Shayla Ann Knighton, Raven Hill, Dakota Hill, Shyloh Chavez, Kadie Lynn Montgomery, Promise Beacham, and Jake Lee Gibson. Fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, also survive.
