Ronnie Ellis

Mr. James "Ronnie" Ellis, age 78 of Calhoun, died Monday, July 8, 2013 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Whitfield County on June 16, 1935, son of the late J.H. and Hazel Powell Ellis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Dodd Ellis in 1999; and two step-sons, Larry Dodd and Jerry Dodd.

He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church, and was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Ellis and Derek Ellis, both of Florida; a daughter, Darlene Ellis of Texas; a step-son, Roy Dodd of Armuchee; a step-daughter, Kathy Dodd of Calhoun; and four sisters, Edna Gossage, Betty McNally, Margaret Ellis, and Patsy Souther, all of Dalton. Six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Ellis will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held Thursday, July 11th at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenny Sheriff officiating.
