Obituary

Roy Amos Jones, 88, of Calhoun died Thursday, March 1, 2018. He was born in DeKalb County, AL on February 28, 1930, son of the late John J. Jones and Lillie Mae Jones. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Juanita Jones; a great-grandson, Bryce Padgett Rogers; and brothers, J.C. Jones, Herman Jones, and Cecil Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Betty Sue Jones; daughters and son-in-law, Sherry and Raiden Rogers of Cartersville, Sheila Kaylor of Cartersville, and Lisa East Traylor of Alabama; step-daughters, Janice Hudgens and her husband Steve of Calhoun and Sherry Lear and her husband Frank of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Jason and Leigh Rogers, Raiden Heath Rogers, Deska and Jody Brown, David and Erin Chaney, and Erin and Nicholas Jones; step-grandchildren, Cory and Megan Stephens, and Todd and Mary Carol Lear; great-grandchildren, Christian Rogers, Anna Rogers, Tatum Rogers, Arika Rogers, Phoenix Brown, Jayden Brown, Rylee Chaney, and Branna Chaney; step-great-grandchildren, Jacob Stephens, Christian Stephens, Jesslyn Stephens, Jeryn Stephens, Gabriel Lear, and Elijah Lear; and brothers, Andy Jones of Cartersville, John J. Jones Jr. and his wife Faye of Adairsville, and Thomas Jones and his wife Kathy of Dalton.
The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, March 4th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Dr. James Shope and Rev. Sean Belcher will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Music will be arranged by Jane Dobbins and James Adcock. Pallbearers serving are Jason Rogers, Heath Rogers, David Chaney, Christian Rogers, Phoenix Brown, and Jayden Brown. Honorary pallbearers serving are Cory Stephens, Todd Lear, Jacob Stephens, Christian Stephens, Jeryn Stephens, Gabriel Lear, and Elijah Lear.
The Jones family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 3rd from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Eric Turner, the staff of North GA Cancer Care, and Hearth Hospice.
