Rev. Roy Lee Stephens, age 47 of Calhoun, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Gordon Hospital following an extended illness.

Roy was born on September 4, 1964 in Augusta, GA, son of the late Myrl and Carolyn Webb Stephens. He was a member of Mt. Mirah Baptist Church in Eton, GA.

Survivors include his wife of ten years, Penny Lee Taylor Stephens of the residence; two sisters, Diane Blankenship and her husband, the late Jimmy Blankenship of Ranger, and Margaret Laynette Douthitt and her husband Daniel of Calhoun; a step-sister, Barbara Jean Jones and her husband Allen of Chatsworth; nieces, Shannon Revels, Heather Douthitt and Lisa Seabolt; a nephew, Derek Blankenship; great nieces and nephews, Alycia Revels, Brian Revels, Hailey Revels, Austin Revels, Kyla Blankenship, Caleb Blankenship, Garrett Bell, Amber Bell and Wade Bell; a special step-mom, Ellaree Smith; and a special step- grandmother, Odell Crook.

Funeral services for Rev. Roy Lee Stephens will be conducted Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Timms officiating. Music will be arranged by Lisa and Wayne Muse. Active pallbearers are Austin Revels, Arthur Watson, Mark Wilson, Seth Murray, Josh Oliver, and Max Oliver. Wayne Muse will serve as honorary pallbearer. Interment will follow in the Blackwood Springs Cemetery.

The Stephens family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 2:00pm until 9:00pm.
