Roy W. Watkins

Mr. Roy W. Watkins, age 91 of Sugar Valley, passed away Friday, April 17, 2009, following several months of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on July 9, 1918, son of the late Lonnie and Rella Clements Watkins. During his lifetime, Mr. Watkins was employed by J.M. Muse Company and Aldon's, and was a farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ruby Patterson Watkins, and a sister, Mildred Davis.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Margaret Watkins; two daughters, Sharon Watkins and Robin Kinsey and her husband Timmy; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Roy W. Watkins will be conducted Sunday, April 19 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Morrow, Pastor Dwaine Shadix, and Pastor Keith King officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Bud Faulkenberry, Travis Davis, Gene Davis, Mitch Worley, Mike Holloway, and Cody Peace. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home Sunday at 1:30pm.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
