Ruby Bell

August 18, 1911 — June 21, 2008

Mrs. Ruby Bell, age 96 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday morning, June 21, 2008 at Hamilton Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Bell was born on August 18, 1911 in Murray County, daughter of the late Clark Casey and Gorgia Smith Casey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Bell, Jr., by a grandson, Mark Freeman and by sisters, Emmie Craig, Dessie Casey, Sara Jo Bolin, Mabel Casey, Mammie, Jessie Mae Bragg and Cordilla; and brothers; Arvil Casey, Millard Holcomb, Ray Holcomb and Robert Casey.

During her lifetime she was employed at Shannon Cotton Mills and Echota Cotton Mills. She was a member of the College Street Church of God, where she served as a sunday school teacher for many years.

Suvivors include a daughter, Mary Freeman of Calhoun; two sons, E.J. Bell of Chatsworth, and Danny Bell of Calhoun; three sisters, Frances Garmon, Linda Faye Sloan, and Paulette Blankenship; two brothers, Luke Casey and Junior Casey; and a sister-in-law, Carrie Washington. Eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Bell will be conducted Monday, June 23 at 1:00pm from the College Street Church of God, with Pastor Donald Lee and Pastor Paul Stover officiating. Singing will be conducted by Kathy Talley, and Charles, Tammy and Amy Freeman. Pallbearers serving will include Tony Freeman, Blake Davis, Bruce Hensley, Nathan Freeman, Kevin Bunch, Clyde Allen and Anthony Couey. Interment will follow the service in the Chandler Cemetery. Mrs. Bell will lie in state at the church on Monday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour. The family will begin receiving friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Sunday after 2:00pm.
